A tragic road accident occurred on Friday morning (5 December) in Hathazari, Chattogram, when a microbus and a truck collided head-on on the Chattogram–Khagrachhari regional highway near Noyahat Forhadabad School.
The microbus driver, 26-year-old Md Kawser, died instantly at the scene. Five passengers sustained injuries and were immediately rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for treatment, confirmed Sub-Inspector Md Shahed of Nazirhat Highway Police Station.
Authorities reported that the microbus was travelling from Fatikchhari towards Chattogram Airport when it collided with the oncoming truck. Police responded promptly, secured the site, and seized both vehicles for further investigation.
Sub-Inspector Shahed confirmed that a formal inquiry has been launched to determine the exact cause of the collision. He urged drivers to exercise caution on this busy highway, particularly in accident-prone areas, as head-on collisions are a recurring hazard on major inter-district routes.
