Dhaka Concert Featuring Anupam Roy Postponed Indefinitely

Music enthusiasts in Bangladesh have been left disappointed after the much-awaited “One True Sound with Anupam Roy” concert, originally scheduled for 26 June at the United Convention Center in Dhaka, was postponed until further notice following a government directive issued shortly before the event.

According to the organisers, preparations for the concert had been completed in full. They stated that all necessary logistical arrangements had been finalised and the required permissions from the relevant authorities had been obtained well in advance. Despite these preparations, the organisers said they were subsequently instructed by the government not to proceed with the programme due to unavoidable circumstances.

As a result, the concert has been postponed indefinitely. While no revised date has yet been announced, the organisers expressed optimism that the event would be rescheduled once conditions permit. They said a fresh date would be communicated to the public as soon as it is confirmed.

The concert had generated considerable excitement among music lovers, with fans eagerly anticipating a live performance by acclaimed Indian singer-songwriter Anupam Roy, whose music enjoys a strong following in Bangladesh. Known for blending contemporary melodies with thoughtful lyrics, Roy has built a loyal audience across the Bengali-speaking world through his work as a singer, composer and lyricist. His performances typically attract audiences from a wide range of age groups, making the Dhaka event one of the most anticipated musical programmes of the season.

In a joint statement, Yamaha Music Bangladesh and Triple Time Communications confirmed that all ticket holders would receive full refunds. The organisers said reimbursements would be processed through the same official ticketing platform from which tickets had originally been purchased, with the refund process expected to begin within 24 hours of the announcement.

The organisers also expressed gratitude to everyone who had supported the event, including concertgoers, well-wishers, sponsors, partners and collaborators.

“We sincerely thank all audience members, well-wishers, partners, sponsors and collaborators for their support and understanding during these unforeseen circumstances,” the statement said. “We remain hopeful that we will soon be able to reunite with you for an unforgettable evening of music at a more favourable time.”
