Eight Senior Police Officers Transferred and Appointed

In a significant administrative reshuffle, Bangladesh Police has simultaneously transferred and appointed eight senior officers. The moves are widely viewed as an effort to enhance operational efficiency, ensure balanced allocation of responsibilities, and strengthen public service initiatives across the country.

On Thursday, 5 February, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Police-1 Division, issued an official notification formalising the changes. Signed by Deputy Secretary Mahbubur Rahman, the notification stated that the officers, all belonging to the BCS (Police) cadre, have been reassigned to new positions or postings. The orders, issued in the public interest, are effective immediately.

According to the notification, Additional DIG M. A. Jalil, previously serving in the Police Headquarters, has been posted as Additional DIG at the Dhaka Range DIG’s Office. In the same office, Additional DIG of SB Mo. Saifuzzaman Faruki has also been appointed as Additional DIG. Given Dhaka Range’s pivotal role in maintaining law and order in the capital and surrounding areas, experienced officers have been strategically placed there.

Meanwhile, Additional DIG of Khulna Range Mohammad Belayet Hossain has been appointed as Additional Police Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP). Rapid urbanisation and industrial expansion in Gazipur have increased challenges in law enforcement and traffic management, making his expertise particularly valuable.

Other notable appointments include Sahab Ali Pathan, Additional Superintendent of Police in Rajshahi Sarada, who has been posted as Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (Supernumerary) of GMP. Additionally, Mohammad Jabedur Rahman has been assigned as Additional DIG of CID, and S. M. Ashrafuzzaman as Additional DIG of Industrial Area Police.

The notification also highlights that Additional DIG Mohammad Rashidul Hasan of the Rajshahi (Composite) Range has been transferred to PTC Rangpur as Additional DIG. Furthermore, the transfer order of DMP’s Deputy Police Commissioner Mohammad Robiul Hossain Bhuiya to the Anti-Terrorism Unit has been cancelled, indicating administrative reconsideration.

Officials believe that this reshuffle strengthens coordination among key central and field-level units, enhancing crime prevention, intelligence operations, industrial zone security, and counter-terrorism measures.
