Amravati Teen Exploitation Case Unfolds

A serious criminal case has emerged from Paratwada town in Maharashtra’s Amravati district, where police have arrested a young man accused of targeting at least 180 adolescent girls in an alleged pattern of sexual exploitation, deception, and blackmail. Authorities describe the case as one of the most extensive of its kind recently investigated in the region.

According to police and local administrative sources, the accused, identified as Mohammad Ayaz alias Tanveer, allegedly used social media platforms to establish contact with teenage girls. He is said to have gradually built trust by engaging in conversations and forming online relationships before persuading victims to travel to cities such as Mumbai and Pune.

Investigators allege that once the victims were isolated, the accused recorded compromising videos without their consent during private interactions. These recordings were later allegedly used as instruments of coercion, with victims reportedly threatened and manipulated into further exploitation under fear of exposure.

Preliminary findings suggest that more than 350 explicit videos have been recovered during the investigation. Authorities also believe that some of this material may have been circulated through online channels, prompting the involvement of cybercrime specialists to trace digital dissemination and potential networks linked to the offence.

A local legislator, Anil Bonde, submitted a written complaint urging the formation of a Special Investigation Team to ensure a comprehensive probe. Following the complaint and subsequent police action, the accused was arrested and produced before a court, which remanded him to seven days in police custody for further interrogation.

Investigators have also seized the accused’s mobile phone and electronic devices. Initial forensic examination reportedly revealed a substantial volume of incriminating digital evidence. Authorities are currently examining whether the material was shared with any wider criminal network and whether additional individuals may be involved in facilitating or benefiting from the alleged activities.

Local community representatives visited the police station to demand strict legal action. They also called for an impartial investigation, stressing that responsibility for the crime should not be associated with any particular community.
