Imon’s PSL Stint Ends After Injury

Parvez Hossain Imon’s Pakistan Super League campaign has concluded prematurely after the Bangladesh batter was ruled out due to a shoulder ligament injury sustained while playing for Lahore Qalandars.

Imon had been gradually adapting to the demands of the tournament after a quiet start to his stint in Pakistan. Representing Lahore Qalandars, he featured in three matches during the season. In his first two appearances, he was unable to make a significant impact with the bat. However, his third outing showed clear improvement, as he scored a well-constructed 45-run innings against Multan Sultans, signalling a potential turnaround in form.

That progress was interrupted on 3 April during a match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore against Multan Sultans. While fielding, Imon was involved in an on-field collision with Asif Ali, after which he sustained an injury to his shoulder. He required immediate medical attention and was taken off the field.

Following the incident, medical examinations were conducted, including an MRI scan. The results confirmed a ligament tear in his shoulder. Medical advice subsequently recommended several weeks of rest and recovery, which has ruled him out for the remainder of the competition.

After the injury was confirmed, Imon issued a statement through his verified social media account. He expressed disappointment at the abrupt end to his PSL participation, noting that he had been enthusiastic about the opportunity and felt he was beginning to settle into rhythm within the tournament. He also highlighted that this was his first experience playing for an overseas franchise and acknowledged the environment within the Lahore Qalandars setup.

In his message, he thanked the franchise management, teammates, and supporters for their trust and encouragement during his short spell with the team. He added that although he would no longer be part of the playing squad, he intended to continue following and supporting the team for the remainder of the season. He also expressed hope of returning to competitive cricket in the future.

Across his brief PSL involvement, Imon accumulated 71 runs from three matches at a strike rate of 161.36. His most productive innings came in the third match, where he scored 45 runs.
