Police FC’s elimination came despite a strong start to the group phase, where they collected six points from their first three matches. A draw in their final fixture would have been sufficient to secure qualification, but the defeat to Bashundhara Kings ended their campaign. Fortis FC, who finished with five points, were also eliminated.
In the match at Kings Arena, Police FC had an early opportunity to take the lead but failed to convert a penalty in the 35th minute. Paulo Henrique’s spot-kick struck the crossbar and rebounded. In contrast, Bashundhara Kings capitalised on their chance just before half-time, as Dorielton converted a penalty during added time to open the scoring. The second half saw a dominant display from the forward, who added three more goals—one with a header and two through precise finishing. His tally for the season consequently reached 20 goals.
Off the field, discussions had been ongoing regarding unpaid salaries of Bashundhara Kings’ foreign players. In the previous match, Dorielton, along with two other foreign players, Sunday and Toni, did not participate. It was reported that they had refrained from playing due to outstanding payments. While Dorielton returned to the squad for this match, the other two players remained absent and were not involved in training.
After the match, head coach Abu Jobaer Nipu addressed the issue, stating: “For various reasons, they did not play in the last match; there were some funding problems. However, Dorielton is a reliable player. If he plays as a striker, there are no issues. He trained yesterday and played today. The matter concerning him has been resolved. His performance has motivated the team.” Dorielton was substituted after scoring his fourth goal and was not present on the pitch at the final whistle.
Regarding the salary issue, the coach added: “The foreign players will receive their payments, although there may be some delay. We are committed to paying all dues. However, due to disciplinary reasons, the club is considering not selecting the other two foreign players for upcoming matches.”
There were also logistical concerns at Kings Arena, where journalists covering the match faced difficulties due to the unusable condition of the designated press box. With the existing facility closed and damaged, and a new one still under construction, reporters had to work from an open area without adequate access to team line-ups or essential match information.
In Cumilla, Mohammedan took the lead in the 40th minute through Jewel Mia. In the second half, Saurav Dewan scored three consecutive goals, completing his hat-trick and securing a comprehensive 4–0 victory. This result confirmed Mohammedan Sporting Club’s progression to the semi-finals alongside Bashundhara Kings.
