Major Drug Haul in Madhupur Operation

In a series of coordinated anti-narcotics drives, the RAB-14 has seized drugs and intoxicants worth a significant amount of money and arrested five inter-district drug traffickers in Madhupur, under Tangail District.

According to RAB-14 sources, the operations were conducted on 6 June 2026 as part of the national government’s ongoing “zero tolerance” policy against narcotics. Acting on intelligence inputs, the elite force’s CPC-3 unit based in Tangail carried out three separate raids across different locations within the Madhupur police station area, leading to the recovery of a substantial quantity of illegal substances.

During the first operation, conducted at approximately 6:30 pm in the Jolchhatra (25 Mile) market area, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw was intercepted and searched. Three suspected drug dealers were detained on the spot. They have been identified as Selim (35) from Habiganj District, Nazma Begum (48), and Anwara Begum (47) from Moulvibazar District.

Following their arrest and subsequent interrogation, law enforcement recovered a bag containing 15 kilograms of cannabis, which had been carefully concealed using specialised smuggling techniques. In addition, three mobile phones and a quantity of cash were seized from their possession, believed to be linked to drug transactions.

Subsequent raids, based on information extracted from the detainees, led to further seizures, including 600 ampoules of buprenorphine injections—an opioid-based controlled substance often misused for intoxication—and 35 bottles of foreign liquor. All items were allegedly being transported for illegal distribution across different districts.

In total, five drug traffickers were arrested during the combined operations. Authorities confirmed that all detainees are part of an inter-district narcotics distribution network operating across northern and central Bangladesh.
