Most Wanted Criminal Arrested in Chittagong Counter-Terror Operation

The Chittagong District Police have arrested a high-profile suspect, identified as Milad Hossain Bablu, also known locally as “Chheni Bablu”, during a targeted law enforcement sweep in the Sandwip sub-district (Upazila) of Chittagong. The 35-year-old individual, regarded by authorities as a prominent regional gang leader, was apprehended alongside a suspected accomplice, 36-year-old Mohammad Jewel Rana.

Following their arrest, information obtained during initial police interrogations led tactical units to launch a follow-up raid in the Taher Bazar area of Sandwip. This secondary search yielded a substantial cache of illegal armaments, sharp weapons, narcotics, and unaccounted currency.

Seizures and Criminal Record Detailed

During a formal press briefing conducted on Saturday, 13 June, the Superintendent of Police (SP) for Chittagong, Mohammad Masud Alam, provided an inventory of the illicit items confiscated from the suspects’ stronghold.

The security forces successfully recovered three locally manufactured light guns (LGs), four live cartridges, a traditional large curved knife (cheni), a meat cleaver (chapatti), and a significant quantity of illegal drugs consisting of 315 Yaba tablets and a small bundle of cannabis. In addition to the weapons and contraband, officers seized cash totaling 11,220 Bangladeshi Taka.

SP Masud Alam stated that Bablu has been actively directing organized criminal operations within the region for an extended period. A comprehensive review of institutional records revealed that the primary suspect faces a widespread series of criminal allegations, with at least 20 existing police cases formally registered under his name.

The arrests in Sandwip form part of a coordinated, district-wide security initiative supervised directly by the Superintendent of Police. This anti-terrorism, illegal arms recovery, and anti-narcotics campaign spans 17 police stations across the Chittagong district.
