Nangalkot Seizes 5,500 Litres Fuel

In Cumilla’s Nangalkot upazila, the administration has seized approximately 5,500 litres of illegally stored fuel following allegations of unauthorised stockpiling of petroleum products. One businessman was also detained during the operation. The joint enforcement drive was conducted on Tuesday (21 April) from approximately 11:30 am to 3:30 pm at a business establishment named Messrs Jalil Enterprise, located in Hasanpur Bazaar under Jodda East Union.

According to official sources, the operation was initiated based on confidential intelligence provided by the Cumilla district office of the National Security Intelligence (NSI). Acting on this information, a coordinated team comprising the Nangalkot Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land), the Officer-in-Charge of Nangalkot Police Station, and a contingent of the Bangladesh Army carried out the enforcement activity. The operation focused on verifying allegations of illegal fuel storage and taking lawful action where necessary.

During the search of the premises, officials recovered and seized a significant quantity of fuel products stored without proper authorisation. The confiscated items included approximately 5,500 litres of diesel and 24 litres of kerosene. Following the discovery, the fuel stock was taken into official custody as part of legal procedures.

The businessman identified in connection with the incident, Abdul Jalil, was detained at the scene by law enforcement personnel. He was subsequently taken into police custody for further legal action. Authorities confirmed that he would be produced before a court as part of the ongoing judicial process.

The Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Nangalkot, Milton Chakma, stated that the operation was conducted based on confidential intelligence input. He further confirmed that one individual had been detained during the drive and that necessary legal steps were being taken, including forwarding the accused to court for further proceedings.
