State Takes Responsibility for Dipu Das’ Family: Education Adviser

Professor C R Abrar, the Education Adviser, announced that the Bangladeshi government has assumed responsibility for the welfare of Dipu Das’ immediate family, including his spouse, child, and elderly parents. Speaking during a visit to the family home, Professor Abrar said, “Prior to my visit, I consulted with the Chief Adviser, who instructed me to meet the family directly. Their requirements and needs will be assessed in consultation with them, and local administration will facilitate ongoing communication.”

On Tuesday at 4:30 PM, Professor Abrar visited the home of Dipu Chandra Das in Mokamiakanda village, Tarakanda Upazila, to check on the family’s wellbeing. During the visit, Dipu Das’ father, Ravi Chandra Das, described the family’s helpless situation and urged the authorities to bring his son’s killers to justice.

The Education Adviser emphasised the importance of communal harmony and the rule of law, stating: “People from various communities have coexisted peacefully in Bangladesh for decades. As a society and state, we respect the right of every individual to express their opinions, provided it is done with due regard for others. No one has the right to take the law into their own hands. Investigation and determination of responsibility remain the exclusive domain of the state. Differences of faith or opinion must never justify violence.”

He added, “Dipu Das’ murder was a heinous crime. There is no justification for such barbarity, and it has no place in our society. The government strongly condemns this act. Twelve suspects have already been arrested, and the investigation continues. Those responsible will face legal proceedings. The law will be enforced fully against such acts of violence.”

Professor Abrar further affirmed that the state is committed to protecting the security and dignity of all citizens, regardless of religion or identity, working alongside law enforcement and the community to prevent any recurrence of violence. He warned against groups attempting to sow division and unrest.
