The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a weather warning for twelve regions across the country, forecasting temporary gusty or squall-like winds with speeds of up to 60 kilometres per hour (km/h). These adverse conditions are expected to be accompanied by rain or thundershowers.

Inland Riverports Placed on Alert

According to the weather forecast issued by the BMD’s Storm Warning Centre, valid from 5:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, 10 June, squally weather conditions are anticipated to affect multiple districts. Winds blowing from the south or south-west are projected to reach speeds between 45 km/h and 60 km/h.

Consequently, the meteorological office has advised the riverports within these specific regions to hoist Inland Riverport Warning Signal Number 1. The twelve regions placed under this alert are:

• Mymensingh

• Khulna

• Barishal

• Patuakhali

• Noakhali

• Chattogram

In a separate six-hour forecast commencing at 7:00 am on Wednesday, the BMD outlined weather expectations for the capital, Dhaka, and its surrounding areas. The sky over the capital is predicted to remain partly cloudy to temporarily overcast, with a distinct possibility of rain or thundershowers.

Winds in Dhaka are expected to originate from the south or south-east, moving at speeds ranging between 10 km/h and 15 km/h. Despite the precipitation forecast, daytime temperatures in the capital are expected to remain unchanged.
