
Two young brothers have died after drowning in a lake located at Deobhog Jallapara City Park in Narayanganj city, Bangladesh. Their bodies were recovered by local residents late on Friday night at around 12:30 am.
The deceased have been identified as Al Amin, aged 10, and Ibrahim, aged 8. They were siblings and the sons of Shah Alam, who works as a rickshaw puller. The family resides in the Kashipur Khilmarket area under Narayanganj Sadar Upazila.
According to Shah Alam, his two sons left home in the afternoon stating that they were going to attend a local fair. After leaving the house, they did not return. As evening passed, the family became concerned and began searching for them. Despite extensive efforts by family members and local residents, the children could not be found during the initial search.
Later at night, their clothing and footwear, including a Punjabi-style dress and shoes, were discovered near the edge of the lake inside the park area. Following this discovery, suspicion arose among local residents, who then initiated a search of the lake water.
During the search operation, Al Amin’s body was recovered first from the lake. Shortly afterwards, the body of his younger brother, Ibrahim, was also retrieved from the water by local people involved in the rescue effort.
Both children were subsequently taken to Narayanganj General (Victoria) Hospital. Upon arrival, medical staff on duty declared both of them dead.
Police have confirmed the incident as a case of drowning. Additional Superintendent of Police (A Circle) of Narayanganj, Md Hasinuzzaman, stated that the two children died after drowning in the lake. No further details regarding the circumstances leading to the incident were provided beyond the confirmation of death.

The incident occurred at Deobhog Jallapara City Park, where the lake is situated. Local residents played a central role in recovering the bodies after locating the children’s belongings near the lakeside. The bodies were later transported to hospital, where doctors confirmed death upon examination. Police have acknowledged the drowning incident, and no additional official findings have been reported at this stage.
