Woman Rescued from Treetop in Kurigram

A woman who went missing in the Ulipur upazila of Kurigram district was found alive the following morning on a high branch of a tamarind tree, prompting widespread astonishment and curiosity among local residents.

According to local sources and family accounts, the woman, wife of Md Abu Sayed from the Gorai Ananda Bazar area, disappeared suddenly at approximately 10:00 pm on Tuesday night. Her family immediately launched a search across nearby areas, but were unable to trace her whereabouts, causing significant concern and distress within the household.

On Wednesday morning, several residents noticed her on the upper branches of a tall tamarind tree located near a pond. Witnesses reported that she appeared to be alternately sitting and lying on the branches and was behaving in an unusual manner. Some also claimed that she was seen consuming food while remaining on the tree, though this has not been officially verified. News of the incident quickly spread, drawing a large crowd of onlookers to the scene.

Fire service and rescue personnel were later called to the location to assist in bringing her down safely. However, initial attempts were complicated as she reportedly resisted assistance and expressed reluctance to descend. Rescue workers stated that she also made gestures suggesting she might jump into water, which further complicated the operation.
