Bollywood actress Amisha Patel has once again found herself in the legal spotlight, as a court in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against her. The action stems from a long-pending bounced cheque case, in which the actress allegedly failed to appear at scheduled hearings, prompting the judiciary to adopt stringent measures.
The dispute dates back nearly a decade. In 2017, event manager Pawan Verma filed a complaint stating that he had been engaged by Patel for a wedding event with a contracted fee of ₹14,50,000. According to the allegation, Patel failed to attend the function, demanded additional payment, and departed without fulfilling her contractual commitments.
Although Patel later reimbursed ₹10,00,000, she reportedly failed to settle the remaining ₹4,50,000 via cheque, leading Verma to lodge a formal complaint. He further claims that despite repeated assurances of payment from Patel, the balance amount was never cleared.
The Moradabad court had previously summoned Patel on multiple occasions, but she did not appear on the stipulated dates. In response, the court escalated the matter by issuing a non-bailable warrant, mandating her personal presence on 27 March 2026.
Patel, however, has denied the allegations, asserting that the matter is long-resolved and that all financial transactions were completed with documented proof. She has also accused Verma of filing a deliberately false case.
