Sheikh Sazzad Ali Resigns as DMP Commissioner

Dhaka: Sheikh Md. Sazzad Ali, the Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), stepped down from his position on Wednesday, 25 February, citing personal and family reasons. At 11:30 a.m., he formally signed his resignation letter, which was subsequently accepted by the police headquarters.

Sheikh Sazzad Ali was appointed as DMP Commissioner on 21 November 2024 by the interim government. His appointment came amid significant student protests and social unrest in the country, and he was entrusted with the task of reorganising and strengthening the city’s police force to restore public confidence.
