At least 600 employees at Chaldal.com’s office in Jessore have not received their salaries for the past three months, sparking growing unrest among staff. Among them is Akash Akbar, who has been employed for four years as a Premium Care Associate. He, like many of his colleagues, has not been paid since December last year, leaving staff financially strained and frustrated.
The situation escalated on Monday morning when employees gathered at the office and refused to work, effectively staging a sit-in protest. In response, management issued a notice suspending afternoon operations, further aggravating the workforce.
Chaldal.com established its Jessore office in 2019, occupying 12,000 square feet across the 12th and 14th floors of the Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park to run its customer service operations. Despite the scale of operations and the number of employees, management has reportedly failed to disburse salaries since December 2025, citing financial difficulties.
Akash Akbar told reporters, “My salary for December, January, and February remains unpaid. Every time we request payment, we are promised it will be issued, but nothing has been done. Meanwhile, we are forced to cover our transport and daily expenses out of our own pockets.”
Many employees at the Jessore office are undergraduate students who rely on their monthly wages to fund their education and living expenses. The salary freeze has left several struggling to meet basic costs. One former employee, GM Durlabh Hasan, a Mapping Associate, resigned in February due to non-payment. He told reporters, “I left because salaries were not being paid. The company still owes me 34,500 BDT. There are at least 600 employees facing the same issue, none of whom have received their salaries.”
When asked about the delay, Chaldal.com’s Jessore office spokesperson Mithun explained, “We are facing an unexpected financial crisis. Due to a national economic slowdown, new investments have not materialised. Consequently, we are unable to pay salaries. Operations were suspended following the employees’ protest.”
Summary of Salary Freeze Situation
| Office Location | Number of Employees Affected | Months Unpaid | Resigned Employees | Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|---|

The ongoing impasse highlights the financial strain on the company and its employees. With hundreds dependent on their salaries for education and daily living, the delay continues to provoke significant dissatisfaction among staff, raising concerns about operational stability at one of Chaldal.com’s major offices.
