Mirza Abbas, senior member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee and political advisor to the Prime Minister, has been airlifted to Singapore for advanced medical treatment. The specially equipped air ambulance departed from Dhaka at 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, 15 March. This information was confirmed by his nephew, Abdullah Jamal Chowdhury Aditya, senior co-president of the Dhaka Metropolitan East unit of the BNP student wing.

Mr Chowdhury urged the public to keep Mirza Abbas in their thoughts and prayers. “The family requests the nation’s support and prayers for his swift recovery,” he said.

Accompanying Mirza Abbas were his wife, Afroza Abbas, president of the Nationalist Women’s Party, and his eldest son, Mirza Yasir Abbas.
