In a coordinated operation in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar, the Bangladesh Navy has recovered crystal methamphetamine (locally known as ice), yaba tablets, and foreign-made firearms buried beneath soil. The operation was confirmed on Monday (4 May) by Navy Lieutenant Commander Shahriar.
According to the Navy, the operation was launched early Monday morning based on confidential intelligence. Acting on the information, naval personnel conducted a targeted search at a brick kiln located in the Alikhali area of Hnila Union under Teknaf upazila. During the search, a significant cache of narcotics and weapons was discovered buried beneath the ground within the premises of the kiln.
The recovered narcotics include 5 kilograms of crystal meth (ice) and 100,000 yaba tablets. Authorities have estimated the total street value of the seized drugs at approximately 3 billion Bangladeshi Taka (around 30 crore Taka). Alongside the narcotics, law enforcement personnel also recovered two foreign-made pistols, two magazines, and four rounds of live ammunition.
During the same operation, an individual named Nurul Kabir was arrested from the Alikhali area. He is reported to be a wanted suspect in multiple arms and narcotics-related cases, with an existing arrest warrant issued against him.
The seized items were subsequently handed over to the relevant police station for further legal proceedings, in accordance with standard procedure.
Lieutenant Commander Shahriar stated that the operation was carried out following specific intelligence inputs and resulted in the successful recovery of the concealed weapons and drugs. He further noted that the Navy’s operations against drug trafficking and other criminal activities would continue.

The concealment of drugs and firearms underground within an industrial site such as a brick kiln indicates attempts at secure storage to evade detection. However, no additional operational details beyond those confirmed by the Navy have been provided.
The Bangladesh Navy confirmed that legal follow-up procedures are underway and reiterated that surveillance and enforcement activities will continue in order to prevent the trafficking of narcotics and illegal weapons in the region.
