Satkhira Commences Gopalbhog Mango Harvest

The harvesting of locally cultivated mango varieties, including Gopalbhog, Gobindabhog and Golapkhas, has officially begun in Satkhira.

The formal inauguration took place at around 11:30 am on Tuesday at an orchard in the Fingri area of Satkhira Sadar upazila. The event was opened by the acting Deputy Commissioner (General) of Satkhira, Bishnupada Pal.

Prior to this, on 26 April, the district administration in coordination with the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) had set a harvesting calendar, scheduling mango collection in Satkhira from 5 May. In line with that decision, harvesting and marketing of early-season local varieties such as Gobindabhog, Gopalbhog, Bombay, Golapkhas and Baishakhi have now formally commenced.

According to officials, the phased harvesting schedule has been introduced to ensure proper fruit maturity and maintain quality standards in the market. The Department of Agricultural Extension stated that different varieties will enter the market gradually over the coming weeks.
