The fatalities occurred between 8:00 a.m. on Sunday and 8:00 a.m. on Monday. Of the six deaths, three were reported in Dhaka, two in Chattogram, and one in Mymensingh, reflecting a continued geographical spread of severe paediatric illness linked to suspected measles infection.
In the same 24-hour period, health authorities documented 1,341 additional children presenting with symptoms consistent with measles across the country. These figures contribute to an ongoing national health concern that has persisted since mid-March.
According to the latest official report, since 15 March, a total of 415 children have died in circumstances associated with measles or measles-like symptoms. Of these, 350 deaths were recorded as symptomatic cases without laboratory confirmation, while 65 were confirmed as measles-positive fatalities.
The Directorate General of Health Services also reported that 50,500 children have exhibited symptoms of measles over the same period. Hospital admissions have reached 35,980, indicating a significant burden on paediatric healthcare facilities nationwide. Encouragingly, 31,992 children have recovered and been discharged following treatment.
Confirmed measles cases during this period stand at 6,937 children, highlighting the scale of transmission alongside a substantially larger group of symptomatic but unconfirmed cases.
