The release of Thalapathy Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan, is reportedly approaching, with the producer indicating that it may reach cinemas within the next two weeks, subject to completion of formalities.
The update was provided on Sunday by Venkat K. Narayana, founder of KVN Productions, during his attendance at the swearing-in ceremony of the actor-turned-chief minister in Tamil Nadu. He stated that, if all processes proceed as planned, the long-anticipated film will be released shortly.
According to the production team, the film is currently in the final stage of obtaining certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Venkat K. Narayana clarified that discussions with the certification authority are ongoing and that the team is awaiting final clearance. He added that the production house is “very happy and excited” as the process nears completion.
Vijay had earlier confirmed, prior to the Tamil Nadu elections, that Jana Nayagan would be his final film before transitioning fully into political life. The producer reiterated this point, noting that the actor intends to devote himself entirely to politics thereafter.
The producer also commented on his professional experience working with Vijay, describing him as disciplined and highly committed. He stated that Vijay consistently fulfils his commitments and delivers on what he promises.
However, the film’s journey towards release has not been without difficulties. It has reportedly been subject to various controversies and discussions, including issues linked to both Vijay’s personal life and aspects of the film during the election period. These incidents were described by the producer as unfortunate.
In addition, the film faced a significant security breach prior to its release, when the entire production was illegally leaked online. Following investigations, several individuals, including a freelance assistant editor, were arrested in connection with the leak.
Some observers have also suggested that the current political and social climate in Tamil Nadu, following the state assembly election results, may be favourable for the film’s release, although this remains a general assessment rather than an official position.
