
The central committee of the National Socialist Party-JASAD organised a human chain, protest rally and public gathering in Dhaka on Saturday, 23 May 2026, demanding the arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved in incidents of rape, murder, enforced disappearance and mob violence across the country.
The programme was held at 5:00 pm in front of the JASAD office near the General Post Office (GPO). Following the gathering, party leaders and activists brought out a protest procession that marched through the Zero Point and Gulistan areas of the capital.
According to the organisers, the demonstration was arranged in protest against the rape and killing of Ramisa, as well as continuing incidents involving the rape and murder of young girls, sexual abuse of madrasa students, killings, disappearances and mob-related violence in different parts of Bangladesh.
During the procession, demonstrators chanted slogans against rape, murder, enforced disappearance and mob violence. They also called for the release of imprisoned JASAD president Hasanul Haq Inu.
The public meeting was presided over by JASAD central committee vice-president and freedom fighter Shafi Uddin Mollah. The event was conducted by joint general secretary Mohammad Mohsin.
Several senior leaders and representatives of affiliated organisations addressed the gathering. Speakers included JASAD joint general secretaries Naimul Ahsan Jewel, Obaidur Rahman Chunnu and Mirza Md Anwarul Haque. Other speakers were Saifuzzaman Badsha, president of the Labour Alliance; Shariful Kabir Swapan, president of the National Youth Alliance; Nurtaz Parveen, a central leader of the National Women’s Alliance; Hasan Aziz Jony, organising secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (Scientific Socialism); and Nargis Neela, a central leader of the National Women Workers’ Alliance.
The speakers demanded swift legal action against those accused of rape, murder and other violent crimes. They also called for effective measures to prevent violence against women and children and to ensure accountability in cases involving mob attacks and disappearances.

The programme concluded with calls from party leaders for stronger enforcement of the law and faster judicial processes in cases involving violence against women and children. The statement regarding the programme was issued by JASAD Office Secretary Sajjad Hossain.
