Bangladeshi music composer and singer Habib Wahid has expressed surprise and delight after one of his popular tracks was used in an official diplomatic video shared on the verified page of Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The video, which highlights the Malaysia visit of Bangladesh political figure Tarique Rahman, features Wahid’s song “Mohajadu” as its background score.
The use of the track came as an unexpected moment for the artist, who first became aware of it upon waking up and finding his phone flooded with messages from friends and fans sharing the clip. Curiosity led him to view the video himself, where he was taken aback by the inclusion of his work in such a high-profile context.
Wahid described the experience as both surprising and deeply honouring. He noted that he had no prior knowledge of the song being selected and had not been contacted by anyone involved in the production of the video. The first time he saw it, like many others, was through social media circulation.
Speaking about his digital habits, the musician explained that he deliberately avoids using Facebook on his mobile phone. While he maintains an official page to share updates about his professional work, he keeps personal use of social media to a minimum, citing concerns about time management and focus. This distance from constant online engagement meant the video reached him indirectly rather than through immediate notification.
Responding to the widespread appreciation from listeners, Wahid said that audience recognition remains his greatest motivation. For him, the emotional response of fans carries more weight than any formal acknowledgement, and moments like this reinforce his commitment to music.
He also clarified that he has had no direct communication with any government representatives or individuals associated with the diplomatic production. The absence of prior contact added to his surprise, making the moment feel even more unexpected.
At present, Wahid remains occupied with new musical projects. He recently released a track titled “Premer Kolonko”, which has received a positive reception from listeners. He indicated that he is currently focusing on upcoming releases and studio work.
The unexpected international exposure of “Mohajadu” has been viewed by the artist as a meaningful recognition of his creative journey, further encouraging him to continue exploring new musical directions.
