In Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, police recovered the body of a woman wrapped in a sack on Thursday evening at around 6:30 PM near the west side of the Tacchakhali Bridge in Ward No. 9 of Haldiyapalong Union.
According to local sources, passersby noticed a foul smell and discovered the body inside the sack. Upon receiving the report, the patrol team of Ukhiya Police Station quickly arrived at the scene and recovered the body.
Preliminary identification suggests the deceased is Rahima (30), the daughter of Amir Hossain from Ward No. 1 of Jaliapalong Union. Relatives said that on 6 November, Rahima’s husband, Jasim Uddin, took her from her father’s house under the pretext of going on an outing. Both Rahima and Jasim went missing after that.
Locals suspect that Jasim Uddin killed his wife, wrapped her body in a sack, and fled.
The Ukhiya police sent the body to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue. Officer-in-Charge Ziaul Haque stated that the case is under investigation and that locating the husband may help unravel the mystery.
