Moulvibazar police have arrested three individuals in connection with the attempted abduction of a woman in Kamalganj, recovering a white private car allegedly used in the crime. The incident has raised public concern over personal safety in the region.
At a press conference held at the Moulvibazar Superintendent of Police’s office on Wednesday, 11 March, Additional Superintendent of Police Nobel Chakma confirmed the arrests and the seizure of the vehicle.

Incident Details
According to ASP Nobel Chakma, the victim, Fatema Parvez Nishi, 29, resident of South Baligaon village in Kamalganj’s 5th Union, was waiting at Bottala Market on the morning of 8 March to travel to Sreemangal. A white private car approached her, inquiring whether she was headed to Sreemangal. Despite her refusal, the vehicle reportedly circled the area repeatedly.
As Fatema began walking home, the car followed her. At one point, a person inside the vehicle allegedly grabbed her face, dragged her approximately 10–12 feet, and attempted to forcibly place her inside the car. Fatema, however, resisted and managed to escape unharmed.
Police Action
Based on the victim’s complaint, Kamalganj police registered a case on 9 March under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000. Investigations, which included CCTV footage analysis, IT tracking, and manual intelligence gathering, led to coordinated operations across Sylhet Metropolitan areas, resulting in the arrest of the three suspects.
Following information provided by the detainees, the white private car used in the attempted abduction was recovered from the Sobhanighat Community Centre premises.

ASP Chakma added that the arrested individuals—Zakir, Kawsar, and Jasim—have prior cases involving theft and narcotics according to CDMS records. Additionally, their alleged accomplice Jahangir remains at large and faces three cases, including robbery. Efforts to apprehend him and further investigate the case are ongoing.
The incident has heightened concerns over public safety, and local authorities have assured that all measures will be taken to bring the culprits to justice promptly.
