Bangladeshi Expatriate Dies In Riyadh Motorcycle Accident

A tragic road accident in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has claimed the life of Shaon Mirza, a 25-year-old Bangladeshi national. The fatality has cast a pall of gloom over his ancestral home in the Naopara neighbourhood of Bhanga Municipality, Faridpur. Mr Mirza had recently assured his family that he would return to Bangladesh to celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha festival.

Details of the Fatality

The incident occurred on the evening of Monday, 4 May 2026. Mr Mirza was operating a motorcycle, travelling from his place of residence toward a local marketplace, when he lost control of the vehicle. The motorcycle struck a date palm tree at the side of the road with significant force.

Following the collision, he was rushed to a local hospital for emergency medical intervention. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries during the early hours of Tuesday. His colleagues in Saudi Arabia contacted his family in Bangladesh at approximately 10:00 AM the same day to relay the news of his passing.

Biographical Background

Shaon Mirza was the son of the late Zahid Mirza and Jhorna Begum. As the youngest of four children and the only son, he was the primary hope for his family’s future. After completing his Secondary School Certificate (SSC), he migrated to the Middle East two and a half years ago to secure a livelihood.

During his time abroad, he worked for a firm in the Saudi capital. He had not visited his homeland since his departure. In a recent telephone conversation with his mother, he expressed a deep yearning to see his family in person, stating that digital communication was no longer adequate and promising to arrive home before the Eid holidays.

Official Support and Financial Indemnity

The Faridpur Expatriate Welfare Centre has verified that Mr Mirza was a documented and legal worker. Md. Ashik Siddique, the Assistant Director of the centre, confirmed that the state would provide comprehensive support to the bereaved family.

Repatriation Efforts

The mother and three sisters of the deceased remain in a state of shock, with neighbours and relatives gathering to offer condolences. The family’s primary appeal to the Government of Bangladesh is the swift repatriation of the body. Authorities have indicated that because Mr Mirza was a legal resident, the government will oversee the logistical arrangements and costs associated with returning his remains for a final burial in his hometown.
