A serious road accident on the Mymensingh–Kishoreganj highway left at least ten passengers injured on Wednesday morning after a passenger bus lost control and overturned into adjacent farmland in Nandail upazila.
The incident occurred around 11:00 a.m. in the Merenga Kawargati area, triggering panic among local residents and causing temporary disruption to traffic movement on the busy inter-district route.
According to eyewitness accounts and police officials, the bus operated by MK Super Transport was en route from Kishoreganj to Mymensingh when the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle. Preliminary assessments suggest that excessive speed, possible mechanical failure, or the poor condition of the road surface may have contributed to the crash.
After veering off the highway, the bus first struck a roadside electricity pole before overturning into a nearby agricultural field. The impact left the vehicle badly damaged and trapped several passengers inside, while others were thrown about due to the sudden jolt.
There were approximately 30 passengers on board at the time of the accident. Upon hearing the crash, local residents rushed to the scene and assisted in rescue operations, helping to pull injured passengers out of the overturned vehicle before emergency services arrived.
