Child Killed in Devidwar Road Crash

A tragic road accident on the Comilla–Sylhet regional highway in Devidwar upazila has claimed the life of a madrasa-going child, casting a pall of grief over the local community.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning in front of Azgar Ali School in the New Market area. According to eyewitness accounts, the child was travelling on a motorcycle with his father when the fatal sequence of events unfolded. While attempting to overtake a passenger bus, the motorcycle came into the path of an oncoming lorry. In a sudden reaction, the rider applied the brakes, causing the motorcycle to lose balance and skid onto the road. The child was thrown onto the carriageway.

Local residents rushed to the spot and rescued the child, immediately transporting him to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Although the child’s identity was not immediately confirmed, local sources stated that he was a student of a madrasa situated near Azgar Ali School. Family members later arrived at the hospital in distress after being informed of the accident.
