Dhaka to Host Vibrant Pohela Boishakh Concerts

Dhaka is set to be transformed into a vibrant hub of music and cultural celebration as the Bengali New Year, Pohela Boishakh, approaches. Across the capital, a series of large-scale concerts and campus-based performances are being organised, promising a festive atmosphere filled with contemporary music, band performances and enthusiastic participation from young audiences.

One of the flagship events this year is the two-day concert titled “Carpe Diem – Lal Boishakhi 1433”, scheduled to take place on 13 and 14 April at Kamal Ataturk Park in Banani. The event is being jointly organised by Asen and Rishka Connects. According to organisers, the programme will feature some of the country’s most popular music acts, with celebrated singers Habib Wahid and Pritom Hasan expected to headline the stage. Alongside them, several well-known local bands will also perform, adding diversity to the musical lineup.

Another major highlight of the celebrations is the Coke Studio Bangla special concert, set for 14 April at 3:00 PM at Courtside, 100 Feet Madani Avenue. The event is designed as a curated musical experience showcasing artists associated with the platform. Organisers have described it as a specially crafted celebration of sound, aiming to blend modern musical expression with the festive spirit of Pohela Boishakh.

Entry to this concert will be ticket-controlled. Authorities have confirmed that although three categories of tickets exist, only two specific categories—priced at 800 and 850 Bangladeshi Taka—will grant access to the concert zone.

In addition to these large public events, the band Chirkutt will be extensively engaged throughout the festive period with multiple university performances across Dhaka. Their schedule includes appearances at East West University, North South University and the United International University. Fans attending these campus shows can expect performances of some of their most popular tracks, including “Jadur Shohor”, “Ahare Jibon”, “Duniya” and “Kanamachi”.

Lead vocalist Sharmin Sultana Sumi has expressed that the band draws continuous inspiration from the energy and affection of young audiences. She also noted their excitement at receiving repeated invitations from academic institutions during the Pohela Boishakh season.

Overall, the capital is preparing for an energetic and music-filled celebration, with concerts, campus shows and public gatherings collectively shaping a lively cultural landscape for the Bengali New Year.
