IVAC Introduces Automatic Visa Appointment System

IVAC Introduces Automatic Visa Appointment System

The new arrangement is intended to streamline the submission process by automatically assigning available appointment slots based on the processing capacity of each visa application centre.

In an official announcement, IVAC said the updated system will be implemented at all Indian Visa Application Centres across Bangladesh and will apply to every category of Indian visa.

Under the previous system, applicants could choose a suitable date and time from the available appointment slots while booking their application. From Wednesday onwards, however, the system will automatically allocate the next available time slot once an application is submitted, removing the need for applicants to make a separate selection.

According to IVAC, appointments will be assigned sequentially based on each centre’s daily application-handling capacity. The automated process is designed to distribute appointments more efficiently while ensuring that available submission slots are utilised in an organised manner.

The change means applicants will receive their appointment details through the confirmation generated by the system rather than selecting a preferred time during the booking process.

Officials have advised applicants to pay close attention to the appointment confirmation issued after completing the booking process. They are requested to arrive at their designated IVAC centre at the exact date and time specified in the confirmation notice to avoid delays or disruptions to their application.

The revised system will be applicable at all Indian Visa Application Centres operating in Bangladesh, regardless of the purpose of travel. This includes applications for tourist, business, medical, student and other categories of visas processed through IVAC.

Time-slot management plays an important role in handling the large number of visa applications submitted each day. Appointment-based submission systems are intended to reduce overcrowding at visa centres, minimise waiting times and improve the efficiency of document verification and biometric enrolment where required.

By introducing automatic allocation, IVAC aims to standardise the appointment process and match the flow of applicants with the operational capacity of each individual centre. The system is expected to reduce the need for applicants to search for convenient appointment times, while allowing available slots to be assigned in chronological order.

The announcement comes as Indian Visa Application Centres continue to manage substantial demand for travel documents from Bangladeshi citizens. India remains one of the most popular destinations for Bangladeshis travelling for medical treatment, education, business, tourism and family visits, making efficient appointment management an important part of the visa processing system.

Applicants planning to submit visa requests from 1 July onwards are therefore advised to familiarise themselves with the revised procedure before completing their applications. Under the new policy, the appointment schedule generated by the system will be final, and applicants will be expected to appear at the relevant IVAC centre according to the automatically assigned time slot.

IVAC has emphasised that attending the designated centre at the scheduled time will help ensure the smooth and timely submission of visa applications under the new appointment management system, which is being introduced nationwide from 1 July.
