Japan Eliminate Tunisia in 4–0 Rout

Tunisia’s 2026 World Cup campaign ended in disappointment after a heavy 4–0 defeat against Japan in Group F, confirming their exit from the tournament. The match was played in Monterrey, Mexico, where Japan delivered a commanding performance from the opening minutes.

Japan took control early, scoring in the fourth minute through Daichi Kamada, who put the Asian side ahead with a quick breakthrough. Tunisia struggled to respond, and Japan doubled their lead in the 31st minute when Ayase Ueda found the net. The first half ended 2–0 in favour of Japan, reflecting their dominance in possession and attacking efficiency.

After the interval, Japan continued to press forward and maintain control of the match. In the 69th minute, Junya Ito scored the third goal, further extending Tunisia’s deficit and effectively ending any prospect of a comeback. Japan completed the scoring in the 84th minute when Ayase Ueda netted his second goal of the match, sealing a comprehensive 4–0 victory.

The defeat marked Tunisia’s second consecutive heavy loss in the tournament, following an earlier defeat to Sweden. As a result, the North African side were eliminated from the World Cup after back-to-back setbacks in the group stage.

Japan, meanwhile, strengthened their position in the group with this result, moving to four points and taking a significant step towards qualification for the Round of 32.
