Limon’s Body Returns May 4

The repatriation process for the remains of Bangladeshi student Jamil Ahmed Limon, who was killed in Florida, United States, has been completed. According to relevant sources, his body has already been transferred to a funeral home, and all necessary arrangements for its return to Bangladesh have been finalised. The body is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Monday, 4 May.

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Washington has confirmed that the first funeral prayer (Janazah) for Limon will be held on Thursday, 30 April, at the Islamic Society in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. Following the prayer, formal procedures will continue for the repatriation of the body to Dhaka.

As per embassy information, the body will depart from Orlando, USA, on Saturday, 2 May, at 8:50 pm local time on Emirates flight number 0220. The journey includes a transit stop in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, before continuing onward to Bangladesh. From Dubai, the body will be carried on Emirates flight number 0582, scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 8:40 am on Monday, 4 May. After arrival, the remains will be formally handed over to the family.

Limon, a PhD student at the University of South Florida, and his roommate Nahida S. Birsty had been reported missing since 16 April. Eight days later, on Friday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Limon’s body had been recovered from near the Howard Frankland Bridge area. However, the body of the other missing student, Birsty, has not yet been recovered.

Following their disappearance, the case attracted significant attention as investigators worked to determine the circumstances. After the recovery of Limon’s body and the arrest of his roommate, Hisham Abughurbiyah, further details have emerged through court documents and police statements. Authorities have described the case as involving a violent and premeditated killing, according to official records and investigative findings.
