Madrasa teacher arrested in Tongi over student abuse allegation case

A madrasa teacher named Junaed Islam (21) has been arrested by police in Tongi, Gazipur, following allegations of abusing a student. The incident occurred on Sunday (14 June) at around 11:30 pm in the Ershadnagar area of Tongi.

According to police sources, the accused, Junaed Islam, is the son of Abu Sahed from Shrirampur village under Nabiganj Police Station in Brahmanbaria district. He had been living with his family in the Dattapara area of Tongi, Gazipur.

Police stated that on Sunday night, the teacher allegedly called the student to his room and subjected him to abuse. The child later became unwell. Local residents subsequently rescued the child and took him to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur, where he received treatment.

Following the incident, local people detained the accused teacher during the night and handed him over to the police.

On Monday afternoon, the victim’s family filed a case at Tongi East Police Station. After the case was registered, police formally arrested the accused and produced him before the court, according to Officer-in-Charge Md. Mehedi Hasan.
