Paris Saint-Germain have finalised the acquisition of Spanish forward Ferran Torres from Barcelona, tying the World Cup final goalscorer to a long-term contract running through to June 2031. Both clubs officially announced the transfer on Saturday, 15 August, completing one of the most prominent attacking moves of the summer window.
Although neither club formally published the financial terms, media reports indicate that the French champions agreed a package worth approximately €50 million to lure the 26-year-old attacker to the Parc des Princes.
The high-profile transfer brings an end to Torres’ four-year stay in Catalonia, where he initially arrived from Manchester City in January 2022. During his time with Barcelona, the versatile forward developed into a key tactical asset, capable of operating across any position in the front three. His movement, pressing discipline, and knack for crucial goals made him a dependable performer in both La Liga and European competition.
Torres’ international pedigree is equally distinguished, having netted 25 goals in 65 caps for La Roja. His career hit new heights at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where his crucial goal in the final propelled Spain to global glory and cemented his reputation on the international stage.
The move to Paris sees Torres reunite with PSG head coach Luis Enrique, under whom he featured prominently during Enrique’s tenure as manager of the Spanish national team. That familiar connection is expected to ease his transition into PSG’s fluid, high-intensity attacking system.
Speaking after completing his medical and contract formalities, Torres expressed delight at taking on a fresh challenge in the French capital. He voiced his gratitude to PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Strategic Sports Adviser Luís Campos, and Luis Enrique for placing their trust in him, stating that his singular focus is helping the Parisian outfit secure major domestic and European silverware in the years ahead.
