Tragedy has struck the domestic entertainment industry following the death of actress and model Ridhika Riddhi, whose body was recovered from her residence in the capital’s Bashundhara Residential Area early on Saturday morning. The 24-year-old artist was found hanging from a ceiling fan at approximately 6:00 AM on 15 August.
Riddhi was immediately transported to Kurmitola General Hospital, where emergency physicians pronounced her dead on arrival. Officers from the Vatara Police Station arrived at the hospital shortly after being alerted by medical personnel. Preliminary findings and initial statements indicate the death was a result of suicide.
According to Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Vatara Police Station, Mazharul Islam, law enforcement met with the deceased’s family, including her mother, at the station to collect background information. Family accounts reveal that Riddhi was involved in a romantic relationship. Early Saturday morning, a heated dispute broke out between Riddhi and her partner while they were communicating via a video call. Police stated that during the argument, the actress took her own life while the call remained connected.
The family of the deceased has filed an official complaint, prompting police to register a case and open a thorough investigation into the events preceding the incident.
Ridhika Riddhi started her career as a fashion model before expanding into television acting, featuring in several popular dramas including Ekhane Manush Bikroy Hoy, Bohurupi, Double Honeymoon, and Sundori. Her unexpected death has led to widespread grief across the media community. Police enquiries are ongoing as authorities record formal statements from key individuals.
