Abdur Razzak has been appointed as the spin bowling coach of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s High Performance (HP) unit, according to a reliable source within the board. He is expected to begin his new role next month, starting with the series against Zimbabwe A.
Razzak was previously part of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) Board of Directors during the tenure of Aminul Islam Bulbul. Following the dissolution of that board structure, he now moves into a technical coaching role within the HP programme.
He retired from all forms of competitive cricket in 2021. After his retirement, he joined the BCB selection panel, where he served for more than four years. During this period, he was involved in selection-related duties for various national and development squads.
In addition to his administrative and selection experience, Razzak completed the Level Three coaching course last year, which is considered an advanced qualification within cricket coaching development pathways. This certification has positioned him for specialised coaching responsibilities, particularly in his area of expertise as a former international left-arm spinner.
The BCB’s HP unit for the upcoming season will continue to operate with a group of experienced former cricketers in coaching and development roles. The board is expected to place continued reliance on senior assistant coach Salauaddin for the structure of the programme.
Alongside Razzak’s appointment, several other coaches remain in their respective positions within the HP setup, contributing to different aspects of player development.

It regularly works with emerging cricketers identified for future national team prospects.
Razzak’s inclusion in the coaching staff marks a transition from his previous administrative and selection roles into on-field technical coaching within the HP framework. His first assignment in this position will come during the forthcoming series against Zimbabwe A, which will serve as the starting point of his coaching responsibilities in the unit.
