Seven Divisions Face Thunderstorms Alert

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast the likelihood of thunderstorms accompanied by rain across seven divisions of the country within the next 24 hours. The forecast also indicates a possibility of isolated hailstorms in some areas.

The information was issued in a weather bulletin covering the 24-hour period starting at 9:00 am on Saturday. According to the bulletin, the extended portion of a low-pressure trough is currently situated over West Bengal and adjoining areas. In addition, the seasonal normal low-pressure system remains active over the southern Bay of Bengal.

Under these synoptic conditions, varying weather activity is expected across different regions of Bangladesh. The forecast states that some places in the Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions are likely to experience temporary gusty winds along with lightning flashes and rain or thundershowers. Similarly, a few locations in the Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Chattogram divisions may also experience such weather conditions.

The meteorological department has further noted that isolated hailstorms may occur in some areas during this period. In contrast, other parts of the country are expected to experience partly cloudy skies with predominantly dry weather conditions.

Temperature trends indicate a slight decrease in daytime temperatures across the country, while night-time temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged.
