Starc Targets 2027 World Cup Return

Mitchell Starc, Australia’s seasoned left-arm fast bowler, has expressed his ambition to extend his international career for several more years, with a clear focus on featuring in the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Now 36, he believes he remains both physically and mentally capable of competing at the highest level after a 16-year international journey.

Widely regarded as one of Australia’s most accomplished fast bowlers, Starc has taken a total of 759 wickets across all international formats, placing him third on Australia’s all-time wicket-takers list, behind only Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath. His ability to deliver in high-pressure situations has made him a cornerstone of Australia’s bowling attack for over a decade, particularly in global tournaments and decisive Test encounters.

At present, Starc is prioritising Test and One Day International cricket after stepping away from the T20 international format. This decision was made to manage workload and prolong his career in the longer formats. However, he noted that these concerns are currently well-managed through structured training, recovery routines, and workload control. His reduced participation in T20 internationals has also contributed to improved physical management.

Starc remains active in franchise cricket as well. He represents Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, where he continues to play a significant role. Recently, he also delivered a standout performance in The Ashes against England, earning recognition as one of the leading performers of the series.
