Sujit Mustafa and Munmun Ahmed, who have been married since 1993 and share a marital partnership spanning more than three decades, are set to appear together on stage for the first time in a joint performance. The event will take place on 15 May at the Hotel InterContinental Dhaka, featuring their combined presentation titled “An Evening of Music and Dance”. The programme is being organised by the Artist Club.
According to Munmun Ahmed, the couple have frequently performed separately at events organised by the Artist Club. She noted that audiences often expressed interest in seeing Sujit Mustafa’s singing combined with her dance performances on the same stage. This repeated interest eventually led to the concept of a joint presentation. She also stated that their mutual understanding as artists would contribute to creating a distinctive atmosphere for the performance.
When asked about the challenges of performing together beyond their identities as husband and wife, Munmun Ahmed acknowledged that sharing the stage with a highly accomplished musician such as Sujit Mustafa would present a professional challenge. However, she also described the experience as both enjoyable and inspiring.
The programme is scheduled to last approximately two hours. Sujit Mustafa will perform solo for around one and a half hours, presenting a selection of his original compositions, popular songs, and works written by his father, Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal. The event will also include a special segment featuring two joint performances, in which Sujit Mustafa will sing while Munmun Ahmed performs dance simultaneously. In addition, Munmun Ahmed will present a solo dance performance.
Sujit Mustafa has been engaged in music for more than five decades, establishing a long-standing career as a singer. Munmun Ahmed has also been active in dance for nearly the same duration, contributing significantly to her field through performance and practice.
The organisers have confirmed that tickets for the event are priced at 5,000 taka.
