Sudden Resignation Rocks Faridpur NCP Leadership

In a surprising move, Haider Molla, the 31-year-old Joint Secretary of the Faridpur district unit of the National Citizens Party (NCP), tendered his resignation citing personal reasons. On Monday afternoon, he submitted a brief two-line resignation letter to the district committee’s acting convener.

In his letter, Haider Molla stated:
“I, Haider Molla, hereby resign from my position as Joint Secretary of the Faridpur District NCP. I request that party organisational leaders and members refrain from contacting me.”

Speaking to the press, Molla elaborated on his decision, explaining, “After careful consideration, I have decided to step down from my post due to personal responsibilities and family matters. I will not be actively participating in political activities for the time being.” He emphasised that his resignation was not the result of any internal conflict or disagreement within the party.

Shahed Ahmed, the acting convener of the Faridpur district NCP, confirmed the acceptance of the resignation, stating, “Haider Molla’s resignation has been formally received. It will now be forwarded to the central committee, and further action will be taken in accordance with the party constitution. In a democratic country, every individual has the right to change their political position.”

The Faridpur district NCP convening committee was formed on 8 December 2025, comprising 101 members. The appointments had been approved by South Zone chief organiser Hasanat Abdullah and central member-secretary Akhtar Hossain.

The following table summarises the key details of Haider Molla’s resignation:

While Molla’s resignation is not expected to have an immediate impact on the broader political landscape of Faridpur, it has triggered a process of internal restructuring and redistribution of leadership responsibilities within the district NCP. The appointment of a new Joint Secretary awaits the decision of the central committee.

Political analysts suggest that the departure of one of the committee’s youngest and most active leaders could influence the operational dynamics of the local party unit. Molla’s resignation marks the beginning of a transitional phase for Faridpur district NCP, potentially reshaping the leadership structure and organisational participation in the months ahead.

This development signals the start of a new chapter in the district-level leadership, which could have lasting implications for local political engagement and party organisation.
