Youth Women’s League Revives Grassroots Slogans Campaign

After a prolonged political hiatus, the Youth Women’s League has signalled the revival of its activities with a slogan campaign in front of the political office of the party president in Dhanmondi on Friday morning. The event, held after approximately eighteen months of dormancy, has sparked curiosity and discussions among local residents.

At around 8:30 a.m., 10 to 12 league leaders gathered at the gate of 51, Dhanmondi 3/A Road. The event was led by the league’s Joint General Secretary, M. B. Kaniz. Participants waved the national flag and displayed a large portrait of the nation’s founding father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, while chanting slogans emphasising party unity, democracy, and the reinvigoration of organisational activity. The leaders also highlighted the importance of active participation at the grassroots level, underlining how it supports the preservation of the party’s heritage and ethical principles.

The political office at Dhanmondi 3/A has functioned as the party president’s office since 2002. Initially leased as a private property, it was acquired by the party following the government’s assumption of power in 2009. Since then, the office has served as a crucial hub for decision-making, election preparations, and central-level meetings.

According to Youth Women’s League officials, the temporary suspension of party activities was prompted by recent political developments. This slogan campaign is primarily a symbolic initiative designed to reactivate political engagement at the grassroots level and reaffirm the party’s principles and ideals.

Local residents reported that while the morning slogans attracted attention, no disturbances occurred. Law enforcement personnel were present to ensure security, and the programme concluded peacefully.

Political analysts interpret such symbolic actions in front of the central office as an indication of potential expansion of party activities at the local level. Although no formal response has been issued by the central leadership, the event is viewed as a deliberate effort to demonstrate grassroots presence and mobilise local supporters.
