Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have announced extensive traffic restrictions across the capital on the occasion of Independence and National Day 2026, as ceremonial events and official gatherings are scheduled at key locations including the National Parade Square and Bengal Bhaban.
A press release signed by the Acting Commissioner of DMP, Md. Sarwar, on Wednesday (25 March), outlined the roads that will be temporarily closed and advised commuters on alternative routes to minimise inconvenience. The measures coincide with a grand parade at the National Parade Square and a courtesy meeting between the Honourable President and dignitaries at Bengal Bhaban. The events will be attended by the Honourable Prime Minister, cabinet ministers, foreign diplomats, senior government officials, and leaders of various organisations.
Additionally, a cultural concert will be held along Manik Mia Avenue to celebrate Independence Day. To ensure smooth movement for attendees and emergency services, motorists are requested to follow the DMP guidelines and plan their journeys accordingly.
