In a significant shake-up within Bangladesh cricket administration, the National Sports Council (NSC) has dissolved the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) committee led by Aminul Islam Bulbul, just six months after its formation. In its place, an 11-member ad hoc committee has been constituted, with former national captain Tamim Iqbal appointed as president.

According to the NSC, the decision follows the findings of an inquiry committee which identified several irregularities in the electoral process. The report reportedly pointed to alleged governmental influence, inconsistencies in e-voting procedures, and indications of abuse of authority by the outgoing leadership. On the basis of these findings, the previous committee was formally dismissed.

The newly formed ad hoc committee has been entrusted with a three-month mandate. Rajeev Shukla, the vice-president of the Indian board, publicly congratulated Tamim Iqbal on social media platform X. He expressed confidence that Tamim’s experience as a distinguished former international cricketer would help further strengthen the development of cricket both domestically and internationally, while also enhancing regional collaboration.

The announcement comes against the backdrop of a complex and at times strained cricketing relationship between Bangladesh and India. In recent years, political tensions have occasionally spilled over into the sporting arena, influencing bilateral engagements and tournament participation decisions. Disagreements over player selection and scheduling have also contributed to friction between the two boards.
