Government Launches Admission Support Scheme

The Government has announced financial admission assistance for underprivileged but meritorious students enrolled in government and private secondary and equivalent-level educational institutions across the country. The initiative has been undertaken by the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust to support students who are already admitted and currently studying but face financial hardship.

According to an official notification, the online application process for this assistance commenced on Thursday and will remain open until 14 June. Eligible students are required to submit their applications within this period through the designated online portal.

The Trust stated that applications will be accepted from 9:00 am on 14 May until 12:00 midnight on 14 June. The entire process is being conducted digitally through the official system at https://www.eservice.pmeat.gov.bd/admission, and no hard copies need to be submitted by post or in person.

Eligibility Criteria

Under the admission assistance guidelines, applicants must meet specific academic and financial requirements. Students must have achieved a minimum of 60 per cent marks in their previous class or a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.50 under the GPA 5.0 scale. In addition, the annual income of the student’s parent or legal guardian must not exceed 300,000 Bangladeshi Taka.

Required Documents

Applicants are required to upload several documents during the application process. These include a birth registration certificate, copies of the National Identity Cards of both parents, a recent photograph of the student, and clear details of an online bank account.

Certain categories of students must also submit additional supporting documents. These include orphaned students, students with disabilities, individuals suffering from chronic or severe illnesses, children of financially insolvent freedom fighters, and children of government employees in the 20th grade. For these categories, relevant certification must be provided at the time of application.

Students from extremely low-income families must also submit a certificate issued by the Union Parishad Chairman or the Ward Councillor of a City Corporation as proof of financial condition.
