Border Vigilance Intensified in Kurigram

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has adopted heightened surveillance and maximum alert status across the 198-kilometre border in Kurigram in order to prevent illegal entry. The Kurigram Battalion (22 BGB) has further strengthened its monitoring and patrol operations within its assigned jurisdiction to ensure overall border security.

The information was confirmed on Thursday (14 May) by the Commanding Officer of Kurigram Battalion (22 BGB), Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mahbub-ul-Hoque.

According to BGB, in addition to routine patrols, special patrol operations and intelligence activities have been intensified to address any potential untoward incidents along the border, as well as to prevent smuggling and illegal crossings. Each Border Out Post (BOP) under the battalion is conducting uninterrupted patrols on a 24-hour basis.

The force has also increased surveillance at key strategic points along the border. Any suspicious movement is being closely monitored, and personnel have been kept in a state of full operational readiness to respond promptly to any developing situation.

BGB further stated that coordinated operational measures are being implemented across all levels of the battalion to maintain border stability and security. The enhanced vigilance includes continuous field monitoring, strengthened patrolling mechanisms, and expanded intelligence gathering activities.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mahbub-ul-Hoque stated that the BGB remains firmly committed to a zero-tolerance policy in safeguarding national sovereignty, preventing cross-border smuggling, and stopping illegal infiltration. He further noted that operational activities will continue without interruption to maintain peace and security along the border.
