Even Amid Ceasefire, Three Palestinians Killed in Israeli Attack in Gaza

Despite an ongoing truce between Israel and Hamas, Israeli forces carried out gunfire and airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, killing at least three Palestinians and injuring five others, according to medical sources cited by Anadolu Agency.

Two of the fatalities occurred in the eastern Khan Yunis area of southern Gaza, where Israeli military vehicles opened fire in multiple parts of the city. One of the victims was shot near the so-called “Yellow Line” in Sheikh Nasser, while the other was killed in a separate location outside the main Israeli military deployment.

In the central Gaza Strip, the body of Husam Abu Karim, along with five injured individuals, was brought to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah. Medical officials reported that they were hit by a missile fired from an Israeli drone near the Makki Roundabout in the Maghazi refugee camp.

These incidents occurred amid ongoing violations of the truce and prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas, which came into effect on 10 October 2025.

Medical authorities have reported that since the truce took effect earlier this month, a total of 492 Palestinians have been killed and 1,356 injured in Israeli attacks. This truce followed two years of intense Israeli military operations, during which more than 71,600 Palestinians were killed and 171,300 wounded.

The United Nations estimates that approximately 90 per cent of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure was destroyed during the conflict, with reconstruction costs projected to reach around USD 70 billion.

Humanitarian organisations warn that repeated breaches of the ceasefire risk escalating tensions, undermining fragile peace efforts, and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the densely populated coastal enclave.

The latest attacks underscore the fragility of the truce and the urgent need for sustained international engagement to prevent further civilian casualties and facilitate reconstruction.
