Manikganj Drug Bust: Two Arrested

In Manikganj’s Sadar Upazila, the District Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested two alleged drug traders following a targeted operation, recovering a significant quantity of narcotics with an estimated market value of approximately 168,000 Bangladeshi Taka.

The arrests were confirmed at around 9:00 am on Sunday (19 April) through a press statement issued by Inspector Mohammad Rofiqul Islam of the District Detective Police.

According to police sources, the operation was conducted at approximately 9:50 pm on Saturday (18 April) in the Baghia area of Sadar Upazila. The raid was carried out by a DB team led by Sub-Inspector Asad Mia, acting on information obtained from confidential sources. During the operation, two individuals were apprehended on the spot with narcotics in their possession.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Didarul Islam, also known as Dipon and Dipu, aged 43, son of Jongu Mia of the Baghia area, and Md. Imon, aged 28, son of Mamun Mia from the same locality.

During the search operation, law enforcement officials recovered 15 grams of heroin and 20 pieces of yaba tablets from Md. Imon. In addition, 40 yaba tablets were recovered from Didarul Islam. In total, the seized items comprised 15 grams of heroin and 60 yaba tablets.

Police stated that the arrests were made as part of an ongoing effort to curb the distribution and sale of illegal narcotics in the region. The seized substances and the individuals involved were taken into custody immediately following the operation.

Inspector Mohammad Rofiqul Islam stated in the press briefing that the operation was conducted based on confidential intelligence information. He further confirmed that the estimated market value of the recovered narcotics stands at approximately 168,000 Taka.

Following the arrests, a case has been formally registered at Manikganj Sadar Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act. The accused are currently in custody, and legal procedures are underway in accordance with applicable law.

Police have also confirmed that the seized narcotics have been documented as evidence for further investigation. The operation forms part of continued enforcement activities aimed at preventing the trafficking and distribution of illegal drugs within the district.
