Minister Pledges Strict Medical Oversight

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain has announced a robust initiative to conduct on-site inspections to ensure that duty doctors across the country are delivering proper and timely healthcare services. The move signals a renewed emphasis on accountability and quality within Bangladesh’s public health system.

Speaking at an official briefing session held Thursday at the Secretariat, the minister underscored the government’s commitment to improving patient care through direct monitoring. The meeting, organised by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, focused on reviewing ongoing activities and identifying areas for immediate reform.

“We will carry out unannounced visits to hospitals and healthcare facilities to assess whether doctors are fulfilling their responsibility appropriately,” the minister stated. “Every official and healthcare provider must remain accountable. A dedicated monitoring cell may be introduced to handle patient complaints more efficiently and ensure swift resolution of issues.
