“Monitoring at 96 polling stations, 50 identified as high-risk”

In Kendua, Netrokona, authorities have installed CCTV cameras in 96 polling stations ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, with 50 of these stations classified as high-risk. These centres will receive additional security and heightened monitoring to ensure a safe and orderly voting process. To maintain law and order, five executive magistrates will be on duty continuously throughout the election period.

Kendua Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Assistant Returning Officer, Mr. Md. Rifatul Islam, confirmed the measures. He stated that Kendua Upazila, comprising one municipality and 13 union councils, has a total of 285,916 registered voters, including 146,500 men, 139,410 women, and six voters identifying as Hijra.

All preparations for conducting the election and the 2026 referendum in Netrokona-3 constituency (Kendua–Atpara) have been completed. Essential election materials—including ballot papers, transparent ballot boxes, and other necessary equipment—have already been delivered to the polling stations.

Authorities emphasised that both the administration and law enforcement agencies are fully prepared to ensure free, fair, and peaceful voting. High-risk polling stations will be secured by personnel from the police, Ansar, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and additional army contingents. Officials have made it clear that under no circumstances will any actions be allowed to compromise the integrity of the election.

To handle irregularities, complaints, or emergencies, a control room has been established to allow immediate communication between officials and security personnel. Mr. Islam called for the cooperation of journalists and the general public to facilitate a smooth and transparent voting process.
