The 11th general election of the Executive Committee of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Officers’ Association has been concluded. Dr Md Mohibul Ahsan has been elected as the President, whilst Md Golam Dostogir has secured the position of General Secretary. The newly elected 11-member Executive Committee will oversee the responsibilities of the association for the next two years.
Election Schedule and Proceedings
The voting process took place on Thursday, 18 June, inside the UGC Auditorium. Balloting commenced at 10:00 am and continued without interruption until 1:00 pm. Following the completion of the vote count, Mst Jesmin Parvin, the Director of the International Cooperation Division of the UGC and the Chief Election Commissioner for this election, officially announced the results.
The election was managed by a designated three-member election commission. To assist Chief Election Commissioner Mst Jesmin Parvin, Shibananda Sheel, the Additional Director of the General Services and Engineering Division, and Mohammad Abdul Mannan, the Deputy Director of the Public Relations and Publication Division, served as Election Commissioners.

The newly elected leaders hold various administrative positions within the structures of the University Grants Commission. The newly elected President, Dr Md Mohibul Ahsan, currently works as the Additional Director of the Public University Management Division. Statements and Future Pledges
Following the announcement of the election results, Chief Election Commissioner Jesmin Parvin stated that the election of the UGC Officers’ Association was conducted in a festive and cordial atmosphere. She further called upon the officers of the commission to strengthen their mutual cooperation and reinforce amicable relationships with one another.
In his inaugural address, the newly elected President, Dr Md Mohibul Ahsan, pledged to work diligently as the representative for all officers within the UGC. He affirmed that initiatives would be undertaken to implement the commitments outlined in their election manifesto on a priority basis. Furthermore, he expressed his determination to ensure a workplace environment free from discrimination and division, whilst asserting that the committee would play an effective role in evaluating and recognizing the competence and efficiency of the workforce.
